EE Week Intern

The National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF, www.neefusa.org) seeks a full-time intern for the National Environmental Education Week program. National Environmental Education Week (www.eeweek.org) promotes environmental literacy and stewardship among young people by creating a full week of environmentally-themed lessons and activities for students in K-12th grade classrooms, homeschools, nature centers, zoos, museums, and aquariums. For the 2009 program, EE Week is planning a “Focus on Miami” event to involve the City of Miami, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and other partners in the Miami area in auditing water use and waste in area schools.

 The start date for this position is December 1, 2008 (flexible). The intern will be expected to work 40 hours per week through May 2009.

Education Intern

The National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF, www.neefusa.org) is seeking a full-time intern to assist with several projects for its Education Team.  Classroom Earth (www.classroomearth.org) is a program designed for high school educators that encourages the infusion of environmental content into core high school curricula.  Planet Connect is a complementary program designed to encourage environmental literacy among high school students.  National Environmental Education Week (EE Week, www.eeweek.org) promotes environmental literacy and stewardship by creating a full week of environmentally-themed lessons and activities for K-12 students during the week before Earth Day.  EE Week’s online Nature Center Map provides educators with information on over 2,200 nature and environmental education centers.

Primary Responsibilities: Intern will devote 50% of his/her time to the Classroom Earth and Planet Connect programs, and the remaining 50% to the Nature Center Map.  Tasks will include:

Intern, Health & Environment Program

The National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) has an immediate opening for an Intern position for the Health & Environment Program. The goal of the Health & Environment Program is to improve public health by advancing environmental health literacy. The Program includes projects involving partnerships with federal agencies, health professional organizations, and public health groups to provide environmental education to physicians, nurses, and other primary healthcare providers.  The position reports to the Senior Director, Health & Environment.

Applicants can be undergraduate or graduate students with an interest and some knowledge/background in environmental health issues. Applicants should have excellent written and verbal communication skills; the ability to handle, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks; possess a high-level of professionalism and enjoyment working with a variety of people; and have strong computer and literature search skills. This is an unpaid position and the work schedule can be 20-40 hours per week.
